Câu bị động là một cấu trúc ngữ pháp trong tiếng Anh được sử dụng để nhấn mạnh vào hành động hoặc kết quả của hành động hơn là chủ ngữ thực hiện hành động đó.
Công thức chung:
Câu chủ động: S + V + O
Câu bị động: O + to be + Vpp + (by S)
Ví dụ: Câu chủ động: The teacher teaches us English. (Giáo viên dạy chúng tôi tiếng Anh.)
=> Câu bị động: We are taught English by the teacher. (Chúng tôi được giáo viên dạy tiếng Anh.)

| Động từ khuyết thiếu | S + ĐTKT + be + Vp2 | She makes her voice heard in the meetings. (Cô ấy khiến tiếng nói của mình được lắng nghe trong các cuộc họp.) => Her voice is made heard in the meetings by her. (Tiếng nói của cô ấy được lắng nghe trong các cuộc họp bởi cô ấy.) |

Khi làm bài tập trắc nghiệm câu bị động, các bạn nên lưu ý một số mẹo sau:
Quy tắc: Khi chuyển sang câu bị động, nếu chủ ngữ của câu chủ động là các đại từ nhân xưng thì ta cần chuyển đại từ nhân xưng => đại từ tân ngữ. Cụ thể:
I => Me
We => Us
You => You
He => Him
She => Her
It => It
They => Them
Ví dụ:
- Sai: The gift was given to I.
- Đúng: The gift was given to me.
Động từ to be trong câu bị động phải được chia theo thì của động từ chính trong câu chủ động.
Ví dụ: I saw him yesterday. (Tôi đã nhìn thấy anh ấy ngày hôm qua.)
=> He was seen by me yesterday. (Anh ấy đã được tôi nhìn thấy ngày hôm qua.) ("Was" được chia theo thì quá khứ đơn của động từ "see".)
Ví dụ: They discussed the project last week. (Họ đã thảo luận về dự án vào tuần trước.)
=> The project was discussed last week. (Dự án đã được thảo luận vào tuần trước.) (Không cần thêm "by they")
Lưu ý: Thứ tự này cố định và không thay đổi, kể cả khi thiếu một yếu tố.
Ví dụ: Câu chủ động: They built this house in Hanoi last year. (Họ đã xây dựng ngôi nhà này ở Hà Nội vào năm ngoái.)
=> Câu bị động: This house was built in Hanoi by them last year. (Ngôi nhà này được xây dựng ở Hà Nội bởi họ vào năm ngoái.)
Ví dụ: Câu chủ động: Volunteers covered the field with colorful flowers.
=> Câu bị động: The field was covered with colorful flowers by volunteer
Ví dụ: I love myself. (Không thể nói: Myself is loved by me.)
Ví dụ: The birds fly on the sky. (Không có dạng bị động: A puppy is looked at by him.)
Ví dụ: He looks at his puppy. (Không có dạng bị động: A puppy is looked at by him.)
