Các thí sinh trong kỳ thi IELTS sẽ cần phải chuẩn bị cho mình các từ vựng thật rộng để làm phong phú câu trả lời của bạn, Dưới đây là một số các gợi ý về từ vựng chủ đề Education để giúp bạn có thể làm câu trả lời của bạn đa dạng và làm giám khảo thấy được vốn từ vựng của bạn phong phú đến đâu.

I. Phần mở đầu

Education không phải là một chủ đề khó và cũng là một chủ đề khá phổ biến trong kỳ thi IELTS. Tuy vậy, các bạn cũng cần lưu ý và chuẩn bị cho mình các từ vựng liên quan đến chủ đề này để có thể làm cho câu trả lời của bạn phong phú hơn.

10. school uniform : đồng phục

Ví dụ: Do Hyan looked so smarting setting off for school on his first day wearing his new school uniform.

11. discipline : kỷ luật

Ví dụ: Schools where a high level of discipline is maintained, generally have above average exam results

12. timetable : thời khóa biểu

Ví dụ: Ruby wasn’t very happy with her new timetable as she had double maths followed by double science on a Monday, both subjects she found hard.

13. lecture theatre/hall : căn phòng hoặc hội trường cho các bài giảng với chỗ ngồi trong tầng

Ví dụ:There was excitement in the lecture theatre as the famous actor stood up to give the drama students a lecture on method acting.

15. library : thư viện

Ví dụ: Sabiha spent all day in the university library doing research for her essay on globalisation.

16. laboratory: phòng thí nghiệm

Ví dụ: Kate’s favourite part of her degree course in molecular biology was the laboratory work.

17. campus: khuôn viên trường học

Ví dụ: It took me a long time to find my way around the campus when I first started at university.

18. halls of residence: ký túc xá

Ví dụ: In his first year at college, Somchai lived in a hall of residence, but in his second year, he rented a house with some other students.

19. student accommodation : chỗ ở cho sinh viên đại học hoặc cao đẳng

Ví dụ: The university offered a range of student accommodation including studio apartments, flats, halls of residence and shared houses.

Ví dụ: I have three more written assignments to complete this term.

Ví dụ: Helga was really bad at exams so she chose a course where 50 per cent of the overall marks came from assessed coursework.

23. thesis : một bài viết dài về một chủ đề cụ thể, đặc biệt là một bài viết được thực hiện ở mức độ cao hơn

Ví dụ: Adam wrote his PhD thesis on the effect of organic fertilizers on soil fertility in tropical climates.

24. presentation : thuyết trình

Ví dụ: As part of their end of year assessment, the students had to give a presentation on the theories of learning for children under 3 years of age.

25. lecture : bài giảng

Ví dụ: She was so pleased that the lecture was cancelled as it gave her time to catch up on some coursework.

26. tuition : giảng dạy hoặc hướng dẫn học sinh cá nhân hoặc nhóm nhỏ

Ví dụ: Dana was unable to get to lectures after breaking her leg but the college provided individual tuition for her until she recovered.

27. tutorial: một buổi học nhóm nhỏ với một gia sư thường theo sau một bài giảng

Ví dụ: He always found tutorials helpful as it was a chance to ask questions about what they’d heard in the lecture.

29. online learning: khóa học online

Ví dụ: I find online learning ideal for preparing for my IELTS exam and enjoy connecting with my teacher via Skype.

30. to sit an exam : đi thi

Ví dụ: I want to carry on learning for the rest of my life but after I finish my training I hope I never have to sit an exam again.

31. tuition fees: học phí

Ví dụ: High tuition fees mean that many young people can’t afford to go to university.

32. grant : tiền do chính phủ cấp để hỗ trợ sinh viên khi học

Ví dụ: Katherine was successful in her application for a grant which meant that she could attend her local university.

Ví dụ: Erik took out student loans of £9000 a year to pay for his tuition of fees and left university heavily in debt.

34. a scholarship: học bổng

Ví dụ: He was overjoyed to receive a scholarship to Oxford University as his parents couldn’t afford to pay the fees.

35. internship: thực tập

Ví dụ: All students on the course were expected to secure an internship during the long vacation between the second and third years of their degree course.

36. to major in : chọn môn học chính

Ví dụ: I want to major in primary education with a specialism in science.

37. faculty : khoa trong một trường đại học chuyên về một chủ đề cụ thể

Ví dụ: It was a proud day for the university when the faculty of science move into the new, state-of-the-art building.

38. research: nghiên cứu

Ví dụ: I’m really enjoying this research project on the migratory behaviour of the golden eagle.
