Mệnh đề quan hệ (relative clause) là một loại mệnh đề phụ thuộc được dùng để bổ sung thông tin bổ sung cho một danh từ hoặc cụm danh từ trong câu. Mệnh đề quan hệ thường bắt đầu bằng một đại từ hoặc trạng từ quan hệ như who, whom, whose, which, why, when, where, that.
Ví dụ:
Trong Tiếng Anh, mệnh đề quan hệ được chia làm 2 loại chính: mệnh đề quan hệ xác định và mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định.

Để làm các bài tập tiếng Anh lớp 10 mệnh đề quan hệ thì bạn cần nắm được cách dùng 8 đại từ và trạng từ quan hệ gồm: Who, Whom, Which, That, Whose, Why, When và Where.

Khi làm các bài tập về mệnh đề quan hệ, có một số điểm quan trọng mà bạn cần lưu ý như sau:
Lưu ý 1: Về vị trí đặt dấu phẩy trong câu
Dấu phẩy trong mệnh đề quan hệ tiếng Anh được sử dụng để phân tách mệnh đề quan hệ khỏi phần còn lại của câu. Có 2 vị trí đặt dấu phẩy:
Ví dụ: My sister, who is a doctor, lives in Paris. (Em gái của tôi, là bác sĩ, sống ở Paris.)
Ví dụ: The dress that I hired, which is in the cupboard, is gorgeous. (Cái váy mà tôi đã thuê, cái đang nằm trong tủ, rất lộng lẫy.)
Lưu ý 2: Sự khác biệt giữa đại từ quan hệ Which và That
Which thường được sử dụng trong mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định và có thể thay thế cho toàn bộ mệnh đề chính đứng trước nó.
Ví dụ: The book, which is on the shelf, is interesting. (Cuốn sách, cái mà nằm trên kệ, rất thú vị.)
That thường được sử dụng trong mệnh đề quan hệ xác định và còn được dùng trong một số trường hợp như:
Ví dụ: The book that I borrowed yesterday is interesting. (Cuốn sách mà tôi mượn hôm qua rất thú vị.)
