Xã hội ngày một phát triển nhanh chóng. Và cùng với những tiến bộ, văn minh nó mang lại, đi kèm với sự phát triển này là một số hệ lụy, vấn đề hiện nay đang rất nhức nhối, là câu hỏi lớn dành cho các nhà lãnh đạo đất nước. I. Các vấn đề xã hội (Social Issues):

• Environmental Pollution: Ô nhiễm môi trường

Ví dụ: Environmental pollution is one the major problems that affects biodiversity, ecosystems, and human health worldwide by contaminating soil and water.

• Illegal Immigration: Nhập cư bất hợp pháp

Ví dụ: We will put in place 24-hour security at ports to prevent illegal immigration.

• Terrorism: Khủng bố /Chủ nghĩa khủng bố

Ví dụ: Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government or its citizens to further certain political or social objectives.

• Poverty: Sự đói nghèo

Ví dụ: Many elderly people live in poverty.

• Racism: Nạn phân biệt chủng tộc

Ví dụ: There is a shocking amount of racism in society.

• Domestic violence: Bạo lực gia đình

Ví dụ: Domestic violence is any behavior the purpose of which is to gain power and control over a spouse, partner, girl/boyfriend or intimate family member.

• Child abuse: Lạm dụng trẻ em

Ví dụ: An example of child abuse is physical abuse such as hitting or harming a child.

• Overpopulation: Sự bùng nổ dân số

Ví dụ: Overpopulation is a serious problem the world needs to deal with

• Gun ownership: Quyền sở hữu súng ống

Ví dụ: Gun ownership is still a controversial issue in the world.

• Juvenile delinquency: Tội phạm vị thành niên

Ví dụ: Teens who have not given any social or moral training often lead to juvenile delinquency.

• Human rights: Nhân quyền

Ví dụ: A government that violates human rights cannot be tolerated.

• Human exploitation: Sự khai thác của con người

Ví dụ: Human exploitation of natural resources has modified the environment.

• Social inequality: Bất bình đẳng xã hội

Ví dụ: Social inequality is the existence of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group or society.

• Political unrests/ Political conflicts : Những bất ổn/mâu thuẫn về chính trị

Ví dụ: Political conflicts occurs when leaders manipulate ethnicity for the sake of political power or economic gain.

• Same-sex marriage: Hôn nhân đồng tính

Ví dụ: Same-sex marriage has been legalized in 29 countries.

• Brain drain: Tình trạng chảy máu chất xám

Ví dụ: Brain drain is the emigration of highly trained people from a particular country into another country where they are able to find better opportunity.

• Teen suicide: Sự tự tử trong giới trẻ

Ví dụ: Teen suicide has increased 4-fold in the past 40 years and is now the second leading cause of death in this age group.

• Abortion: Tình trạng nạo phá thai

Ví dụ: She decided to have an abortion.

• Prostitution: Nạn mại dâm

Ví dụ: Many women were forced into prostitution.

• Unemployment: Tình trạng thất nghiệp

Ví dụ: Thousands of young people are facing long-term unemployment.

• Traffic congestion: Sự tắc nghẽn giao thông

Ví dụ: Traffic congestion is a growing problem in many metropolitan areas.

• Fresh water shortage / Fresh water scarcity: Sự khan hiếm, thiếu hụt nguồn nước sạch

Ví dụ: One of the reasons for fresh water shortage is climate change.

• Growing gap between rich and poor : Khoảng cách giàu nghèo gia tăng

Ví dụ: The growing gap between rich and poor is an obstacle to socio-economic development.

• Economic inequality : Bất bình đẳng về kinh tế

Ví dụ: Economic inequality is the unequal distribution of income and opportunity between different groups in society.
